Do you know what it takes to become an adoptive parent?

The legal system can be confusing to encounter for Salt Lake City residents who have not been involved in any lawsuits in the past. There are detailed rules of procedure that must be followed, and these rules can vary depending on the type of case at issue. There are also a number of legal issues that arise in each case that must be addressed, including complex issues that have not been handled in any other case before.

Under these circumstances, it is no surprise that people have a lot of myths when it comes to the legal system. Last week, this blog discussed a number of myths that people believe when it comes to the process of adoption.

For instance, someone who is interested in being an adoptive parent may believe they are not eligible to do so because of their age, marital status or income level. Others may have a general familiarity with the adoption process, but they may not know the issues involved in particular adoptions, such as adopting a child from foster care.

It is important to dispel these myths and learn the truth, particularly because so much is at stake when someone wants to adopt a child. Our firm has helped numerous clients walk through the process of adoption, and we work closely with our clients to dispel any myths they may have of the adoption process.

For instance, we can explain the procedural and substantive requirements of the law to our clients. Once we gain familiarity with the case, we can put in place a successful strategy to meet each of these requirements and give our clients the best chance of meeting their goal.
